About MayStan
A little about the person behind it.
MayStan was created around a simple belief: understanding ourselves shouldn't be unnecessarily complicated.
We're all different. Our experiences, circumstances and responses are uniquely our own.
MayStan brings together accessible nervous system education, practical experiences and self-regulation skills to help people better understand themselves and discover what works for them.
It's not about giving people another thing they have to do. It's about developing useful skills that fit into the lives they're already living.

A Little About Lee
Lee Herbert — Founder of MayStan
For more than 30 years, Lee Herbert's career has centred on people, business and human behaviour.
His experience spans sales, marketing, media and lead generation — founding and growing businesses, leading teams and advising at board level. He has worked across a wide range of sectors, from commercial businesses to third-sector organisations, including work with some of the world's largest brands.
Much of his career focused on understanding human habits and behaviour — what captures attention, influences decisions and drives people to choose products or services.
But his own experiences of loss, bereavement, pressure, burnout, alcoholism and recovery led him to explore human behaviour from a different perspective.
His growing interest in the nervous system, neuroscience, breathing physiology and the many influences on everyday life eventually led to the creation of MayStan.
"For years, I helped businesses understand people and why they buy. Now I help people understand themselves."
We recognise that there is no single technique that works for everyone, and no two people arrive with the same experiences or starting point.
Our approach begins by understanding the individual, rather than making assumptions about what they need.
Why MayStan?
MayStan takes its name from May and Stan, two of our founder Lee Herbert's grandparents.
But its meaning goes far beyond one family.
It's an acknowledgement of our ancestors and everyone who came before us — those we knew, those we never met, and the lives and experiences that helped shape the generations that followed.

Family histories aren't always happy or straightforward, and we don't have to pretend otherwise. We don't need to celebrate every part of the past to recognise that everyone has their own story.
At MayStan, we believe in meeting people as fellow human beings first — with understanding, curiosity and respect, whatever their background, experiences or circumstances.
Because understanding ourselves shouldn't require a degree in neuroscience.
The science behind our nervous system, physiology and behaviour can be fascinating — and sometimes complicated.
But that doesn't mean understanding it should be.
MayStan takes science-informed ideas and translates them into accessible education, practical experiences and techniques that people can explore in everyday life.
We stay curious, continue learning and recognise that our understanding is always developing.
Made understandable. Made accessible. And, most importantly, made useful in everyday life.
